Anonyma is a Windows 10 and 11 app that finds and removes personal information in PDFs, scans, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, e-mails (.eml, .msg) and images, directly on your computer. It uses AI on your device to find details like names, addresses, Social Insurance Numbers (SIN/NAS), account and policy numbers, dates of birth, e-mails and phone numbers. You review every page, then export a cleaned PDF copy. Your documents are never uploaded.
When you export, Anonyma writes a new, cleaned copy of your document. Here is what it does to that copy, and what no redaction tool can do for you.
The hidden text is taken out of the file. Anonyma does not export a black box laid over text that is still there.
Document properties, comments, attachments, bookmarks, form fields, scripts and page thumbnails are removed, so a name does not survive somewhere you cannot see.
White text on a white page, text under a picture or in a hidden layer does not show on screen, but it is still in the file. Anonyma reads all the text in the file, finds it, tells you it is invisible and removes it from the copy like the rest.
The copy is written as a new file. Your original stays exactly as it was.
Scanned pages are rebuilt as images, and after export Anonyma checks the copy for remaining selected details.
If the file name contains something you hid, such as a person's name, it is cleaned in the copy.
You can save a short report with the copy that says how it was made, without repeating the hidden text. It is a summary, not a certificate.
Anonyma looks for the personal details that most often need to be removed before a document is shared, for both Canadian and US formats, in French and English:
Search the whole document for any name, number or word and remove it yourself, even if the automatic detection misses it. You stay in control of exactly what gets taken out.
With Pro and during the trial, Anonyma can remember certain words or names you hid in an exported copy, on your computer. You control the saved rules and how they are used.
Every suggestion is shown on the page before anything is exported. You confirm each page, and you remain responsible for the copy you share.

Nothing leaves your device. There is no upload button and no processing server. Detection and redaction run entirely on your computer. Only the licence check and the update check use the network, never your document content.
